Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Image inspection, compression, conversion and ZIP generation run on your device. Images are held in memory and are not saved to browser storage. The site uses analytics for page views and action counts; image files, filenames and metadata are not included in tool events.
Which image formats can I convert?
Use JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP or a self-contained static SVG as input. AVIF decoding requires browser support. HEIC/HEIF and TIFF input work only when your browser can decode them; otherwise export JPEG or PNG from your device first. Output formats are JPEG, PNG, WebP where the browser can encode it, and AVIF. SVG is rasterized. GIF, BMP, TIFF, SVG and HEIC output are not offered.
Can I compress PNG without losing quality?
PNG output uses lossless compression of the processed raster with Oxipng. Resizing, cropping, browser color conversion and alpha handling can still change original source pixels. Quality controls apply to lossy JPEG, WebP and AVIF output. This tool is not intended for archival preservation of original pixels or metadata.
How do I convert PNG to JPG or WebP?
Choose your images, select JPEG or WebP as the output format, adjust quality and select Compress / Convert all. JPEG replaces transparency with your chosen background color. WebP and PNG preserve transparency. You can also convert JPG to PNG, JPG to WebP and WebP to JPG using the same workflow.
Can I compress an image to an exact file size?
For JPEG, WebP and AVIF, an optional target size searches up to eight quality levels without exceeding your quality limit. The target is best effort, not an exact-byte guarantee. If it cannot be reached, the smallest tested result is provided with a warning. Reduce dimensions for further savings. PNG has no target-size control.
What happens to animation and EXIF metadata?
Animation and extra pages are not preserved. Enable first-frame/page export explicitly for GIF or other multi-frame containers. Source EXIF, GPS, comments and profiles are not copied. Orientation is applied before encoding. Output is an 8-bit browser-rendered raster; metadata preservation, HDR and wide-gamut output are not supported.
What are the image and batch limits?
Choose up to 40 files, at most 25 MiB per file and 100 MiB total input. Images must be at most 24 megapixels and 8192 pixels per side. AVIF output is limited to 8 megapixels. Results are capped at 150 MiB per batch. Files are processed one at a time in a worker; you can cancel and keep completed results.
